Fashion Week is a wonderful time when women can come together and celebrate the designer’s hard work while showcasing their own individual style. I couldn’t help but notice this year how some of our beloved trends will be repeating itself this year…
Prepare for more peplum!
There was plenty of peplum on peplum silhouettes, as well as structured peplum pieces. This polished look is timeless and puts femininity back into a woman’s outfit. Tia Cibani, Zac Posen, Son Juan Wan and Red Valentino are just a few designers who prove that the peplum is only at its peak! The sophisticated houndstooth Oscar de la Renta suit was accessorized with a black belt, which helped create an hourglass figure by accentuating the waist. Make your peplum outfit extra fabulous by wearing a statement belt to complete the ensemble.
Don’t you dare “white out” black and white just yet!
Just because this trend is colorless, it doesn’t mean it’s boring! Alexander Wang, BCBG Max Azria and Carolina Herrera showed off solid white looks which makes you wish Labor Day hadn’t just past! Meanwhile, designers such as Kaelen, Suno and DKNY displayed a bold black and white combination that can certainly be applied during the winter season.
Don’t cut the crop out of your closets!
Alice + Olivia, Narciso Rodriguez, and Peter Som are just some of the many designers who made the crop-top completely classic this year. Contrary to mainstream belief, you actually can look sophisticated while showing a touch of skin. Christian Siriano, Jill Stuart, John Patrick and Mara Hoffman took this trend to new heights by pairing the crop with a high-waisted pencil skirt.
This look is flattering because it’s showing just a peek of the tiniest part of a woman’s waist. Ladies remember, you can always create a more business appropriate look by throwing on a blazer.
